The Archangels of the First Book of Enoch from the Qualitative and Quantitative Perspectives

Lo and behold, this is the fourth thesis utilizing the EvT (now in the Legacy section). Maria Frąk, a student of the Comparative Studies of Civilisations (JU), deployed this system in a detailed analysis of five archangels of 1 Enoch. Her study neatly shows the specificity of each figure and the uniqueness of Uriel, who appears to be the youngest (in terms of literary origins), the least submissive, and the most specialized among the distinguished angels.

Congratulations!

The Archangels of the First Book of Enoch
from the Qualitative and Quantitative Perspectives

Abstract

The archangels depicted in the First Book of Enoch have a variety of remarkable and distinct qualities and this study will demonstrate such characteristics quantitatively and qualitatively. It was developed using a Digital Humanities technique - the Elyonim veTachtonim system. The foundation of the First Book of Enoch was laid, and calculations regarding the characteristics and tasks of the creatures were made. The analyses yielded interesting findings in a variety of areas and allowed to highlight archangels’ similarities and contrasts. The result demonstrates that some angels share a lot of common characteristics, and one of them differs from the rest.
